Terms of Use
Effective date: July 12, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Mizan LLC (“we”). By using Mizan you accept them. If you obtained Mizan via Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where they conflict regarding Apple's obligations, Apple's terms control. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its content.
1. License
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use Mizan on Apple devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
2. Subscriptions
Parts of Mizan require an auto-renewing subscription purchased through your Apple ID. Payment is charged to your Apple account; subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in Apple's subscription settings. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Prices may change with notice; changes apply from the next renewal.
3. Religious content — no rulings
Mizan offers readings, reflections, and reminders drawn from the Quran and Islamic tradition. It does not issue fatwas or religious rulings, and nothing in the app is a substitute for a qualified scholar. For any ruling that shapes your life — marriage, divorce, finance, inheritance, health, dietary law and beyond — consult qualified scholars you trust.
4. AI-generated content
Parts of Mizan's guidance (reflections, verse selection, halal readings, temptation counsel) are generated by artificial intelligence. AI output can be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong. Quran verse text is always drawn from a verified corpus, but the selection of verses and all commentary are AI-generated and provided “as is,” for reflection only.
5. Halal scanner — informational only
The Halal feature (barcodes, labels, meal photos) provides an informational reading based on public databases, automated rules, and AI image analysis. It is not a halal certification, laboratory analysis, or authority. Databases contain errors; formulations change; photos can be misread. Verdicts and confidence scores are estimates. You remain solely responsible for what you eat. It does not detect allergens and is not medical or nutritional advice.
6. Not medical or mental-health care
Mizan is not a medical device and provides no medical, psychological, or therapeutic services. The Return tab's breathing exercise and counsel are spiritual self-help tools. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately (in the US, call or text 988).
7. Prayer times
Prayer times are astronomical calculations based on your location and may differ from your local mosque's timetable. Verify locally where precision matters to you.
8. Your content
You retain rights to text you enter (questions, descriptions). You grant us the limited license needed to process it to provide the service (including AI processing described in the Privacy Policy). Don't submit unlawful content or content that infringes others' rights.
9. Acceptable use
No reverse engineering, scraping, reselling, abusing the AI endpoints, disrupting the service, or using the app where prohibited by law.
10. Intellectual property
The app, its design, name, and content (excluding the Quran text and third-party materials credited at Attributions) are ours. Quran text: Tanzil Uthmani Arabic and the Talal Itani (ClearQuran) English translation, used under their respective terms.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app — including reliance on any reading, verdict, reflection, or reminder. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the app or violation of these terms.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach. You can stop using the app at any time; deletion rights are in the Privacy Policy.
15. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use means acceptance.
16. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules; disputes go to the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, unless mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.
