Important Disclaimers
Four things we want you to know clearly, in plain language. The formal versions live in the Terms of Use.
Not a fatwa.
Mizan offers readings and reminders, not rulings. The app will never tell you what Islamic law requires of you in your specific situation — that is the work of qualified scholars. When it matters, sit with one.
About the AI.
Mizan uses AI (Claude, by Anthropic) to choose verses, write reflections, and read food. AI makes mistakes. Quran text itself is never AI-written — every verse is drawn from a verified corpus — but everything around it is generated and should be received as a starting point for reflection, not an authority.
About the halal scanner.
A reading, not a ruling; an aid, not a certification. Product databases contain errors, recipes change, and a photo of a plate has limits. Treat every verdict as informed guidance, check labels and certifiers, and when in doubt, leave it. The scanner does not detect allergens and offers no medical advice.
If you're struggling.
Mizan can hold a hard night with you, but it is not therapy and not emergency care. If you're in danger of harming yourself or someone else, call your local emergency number, or in the US call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Please reach a human first.
